Wow, time has sure flown by. It's been over a month since our last update and I deeply apologize. We've traveled from New York down to Georgia and back up to Ohio. God has allowed us to see Him in action, not only in those attending Extreme Tour events, but also in our team and in ourselves. It is so encouraging to hear a young band member state "I didn't realize God loved me so much." It's those things that really hit home because not only did he make such a bold statement, but his mannerisms have changed over his time on the tour. To get to see that change in him sparks a thought in myself: If Christians don't know how much God loves them, then how can we expect others to know ? The love of Christ is so unexplainable, that even theological scholars cannot 100% grasp it.
Although I don't believe God's love will ever be fully understood, I do think we can help curb people's thought on His love. In our society, the word love has been so perverted that it has lost its power. Middle schoolers "love" their boyfriends/girlfriends, we "love" our pets, teenagers "love" their cell phones, adults "love" the American Dream. How easy is it for us to replace this "love" when these things let us down? Does God replace us when we let Him down?
God shows us a never-ending love that is so pure and so genuine that it is simply unfathomable. How much of a difference could we make if we showed a true love to all those around us? Not a superficial love that lasts until a broken heart, a broken promise, or a broken life. No, a love that prevails through all, that keeps going strong through all the rough patches of life. Maybe, just maybe, if we learned to love more we could get a better understanding of how God loves us.
Hatred stirs up strife, but love covers all transgressions. -Proverbs 10:12
